Martin joined MiddleCap in 2012 and he was responsible of advising a number of clients in M&A deals, transaction structuring, acquisition financing and refinancing, valuations and feasibility studies. 

Since 2019 he has led MiddleCap Private Equity division. Since than he has made several important acquisitions. The divisions first two investee companies Focus Optik, Czech Republic and Fokus Očná Optika, Slovakia, the main eye-wear retailers operating chain of 160 stores. The second successful investment of the division was establishing SYTIQ- construction company which is step by step becoming one of the most relevant players in Slovakia.

Prior to joining MiddleCap Martin worked for Deloitte for almost 5 years, where he led the business valuation and financial modeling department in Slovakia.

Martin holds graduates in Economics and financial mathematics from Comenius University in Bratislava.

SYTIQ a. s. was founded in 2019 as a mutual project by a group of seasoned professionals from the construction industry and MiddleCap as a financial investor. The project has attracted numerous experts in building construction and oil & gas line construction to come on board of SYTIQ. FOKUS

FOKUS was acquired by MiddleCap in mid 2019. FOKUS consisted of two independent eye wear retail companies ranking number one in Slovakia and number two in the Czech Republic. Both retailers derived from a state owned company established in the 1950’s and has operated a traditional eye wear retail chain with 86 stores in the Czech Republic and 74 stores in Slovakia since then. With more than 160 stores, FOKUS is a major eye wear retailer in CEE.

Voltatech

VOLTATECH is counted among the top players in Slovakia in the field of high-voltage and low-voltage installations. The main activity of the company is a complex range of services in the field of power engineering from design, through electrical installations, switchboards production, subsequent inspections and servicing of electrical equipment of high and low voltage and weak current devices. The company participates in major projects such as tunnel constructions and large scale residential projects such as Stein2. All of the services mentioned above are carried out by its own staff.

Luxembourg / Prague / Bratislava  FOKUS optik and FOKUS očná optika are the largest eyewear retail network in the Czech and Slovak Republic. By closing both transactions, MiddleCap Group has become one of the largest players in the Central European eyewear retailers market, now operating more than 150 stores. MiddleCap is the owner of both companies.

Both retail networks have been active in the relevant markets for a long time, deriving their history from the foundations back in the 1950s. With its 66 operations, FOKUS očná optika has been the leader on the Slovak market for a long time. Czech FOKUS optik is the number one in the number of stores (90) and number two based on the revenues. The assortment of both companies consists of a wide and attractive product portfolio in the range of prescription glasses, sunglasses, spectacle frames, contact lenses and accessories. In Slovakia, several operations include also a Vision centre – the connection of opticians with an outpatient medical facility under one roof, which provides the customer with comprehensive eye care. In the Czech Republic, gel contact lenses, designed by world-renowned Czech inventor Otto Wichterle, were applied for the first time in the world in Prague stores operated by FOKUS optik.
